Onshore management personnel from the United Kingdom and Mumbai joined the 87 seafarers, providing an opportunity to work and socialise in a relaxed setting.
Operational and workforce strategies, safety, and industry vetting such as SIRE 2.0 inspections were some of the topics covered at the JW Marriott Mumbai, Juhu Beach.
A healthy feedback session allowed attending officers the opportunity to express their ideas and challenges to management and engage in collective discussion on how service provision to ship owner clients can be further improved.
Aniket Mallav, Chief Engineer, said: “The event was exceptionally well-organised, and every detail - from the venue setup to the seamless coordination - reflected the organising team’s dedication and professionalism.
“The content and insights shared during the seminar were truly valuable.
“The topics discussed by the speakers were not only relevant but also presented in a way that was both engaging and informative.
“I gained a deeper understanding of how Northern Marine Management’s work onshore contributes towards the vessel’s safe, efficient, effective, and sustainable operations and I am confident that this knowledge will continue to positively impact my work.”
Following the seminar, an awards ceremony took place at which many employees were awarded for their long service commitment to Northern Marine.
Captain Rohit Rai added: “I found the seminar incredibly helpful and I'm looking forward to employing what I learned especially with SIRE 2.0 implementation, and the relationship between the onboard ship management team and shore staff.
“The workshops held were very informative and I came to know a lot about fellow crew members during interactions.
“The question-and-answer sessions were also very good, leading to positive discussions along with active participations from everyone.
“In a nutshell, I totally enjoyed it and learned a lot in a comfortable environment”.
Barrie Finlayson, Head of People Strategy (Marine), Northern Marine Management, said: “Many thanks to all the officers who attended our most recent international crew seminar in Mumbai.
“We are committed to developing our highly skilled offshore workforce and events such as this allow attendees to receive in-person Company and Industry updates that will broaden their understanding of the strategies in place for their development and the future successes of ship management operations.
“This seminar marks the last seminar of 2024, and we already look forward to reconvening again in several locations in 2025.”
