Fleet growth, safety onboard, and career opportunities were some of the topics covered at the Westin Hotel in the suburb of Powai as 87 senior officers got together to work, learn, and socialize.
Featuring presentations from onshore management personnel from India and the UK, as well as external speakers, the agenda covered Company updates and the latest safety and operations’ initiatives.
Capt. Sachin Srivastava joined his fellow Northern Marine seafaring colleagues at the event.
He said: “Seminars such as this keep us motivated and among NMM seafarers bring a sense of belonging to a very good organisation.
“Such initiatives will also go a long way in attracting best talent in the shipping industry.
“It was a very good opportunity to meet our colleagues from NMM UK and Mumbai and other fellow officers.”
During the event officers participated in workshops and were also encouraged to express their views and give feedback to management.
Sachin added: “The Q&A session and Causal reasoning exercise in my view were very good and led to fruitful discussions with active participation from all the attendees who freely expressed their thoughts.
“The presentation on SIRE 2.0 gave a good overview on what to expect in the coming months with its implementation.
“This visit to Mumbai for the seminar also gave me an opportunity to reconnect with some of my peers and fellow officers after many years.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the NMM staff in Mumbai for their efforts towards organising the seminar and look forward to attending many such events in the future.”
Kenneth McConnell, Ship Management Director, said: “The engagement and enthusiasm from our seafaring colleagues during the seminar in Mumbai ensured a successful and collaborative event.
“Our seafarers are integral to Northern Marine’s success and the seminars are an additional and effective platform to better inform them on Company developments and come together in a relaxed setting to build relationships.
“We are very grateful they took the time to attend the event and participate so fully.”
Spouses and partners of attendees were also invited to attend a dinner and awards ceremony at which many employees were awarded for their long service commitment to Northern Marine.
Further crew seminars are scheduled to take place in Europe later in the year.
